His warning was stark: the federal government might exploit the situation to impose emergency rule or even move to ban PTI altogether.

In his communication, Yousafzai pointed to rising terrorist activity and deteriorating security conditions as reasons to delay. He suggested federal authorities were constructing a narrative that the KP provincial government was failing to cooperate on security matters, potentially setting the stage for dissolving the provincial administration or accusing PTI of supporting extremism.

The letter referenced the possibility that cross-border incidents from Afghanistan could be used as cover for drastic federal intervention. Yousafzai invoked the example of PTI founder Imran Khan, who previously called off a long march to protect workers’ lives, and urged current leadership to prioritize dialogue over confrontation.

Party chairman Barrister Gohar swiftly rejected the suggestion, reaffirming that the march would proceed as scheduled. He dismissed speculation about dissolving the provincial assembly or replacing Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, stating that Afridi retained the full confidence of the jailed party founder.

Meanwhile, CM Afridi himself expressed frustration during a parliamentary party meeting, complaining about insufficient commitment among some PTI members to march preparations. According to sources present, Afridi remarked that the party harbored internal betrayers, using historical references to traitors. He clarified that protesters would march peacefully without weapons, countering government allegations about potential violence.

Former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur added another critical voice, telling media that postponing the original September 27 date had already weakened the party’s momentum. He noted that provincial officials and workers were being detained due to what he described as weak provincial authority, and said he had successfully reached Islamabad three times during previous protests despite obstacles.

The federal government has maintained that while it remains open to talks, it cannot negotiate the release of Imran Khan, who faces multiple legal cases. Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar stated that courts, not street protests, were the proper venue for addressing Khan’s detention. He pointed out that PTI appeared determined to secure the founder’s freedom through rallies rather than legal channels.

PTI Senator Ali Zafar suggested the postponement created an opening for genuine negotiations, provided the government took reciprocal steps. He insisted the October 4 march remained final and claimed federal authorities feared the mobilization.

The opposition has also been reaching out to other parties, including inviting the Pakistan Peoples Party to join an all-parties conference. PPP leader Nayyar Bukhari said he would consult party chairman Bilawal Bhutto about the proposal.

The internal tensions come as PTI prepares what it describes as a major national mobilization demanding Khan’s release and restoration of constitutional order. The party has already postponed once, and now faces pressure from within to delay again or risk catastrophic consequences for its provincial government and national standing.

Pakistan’s main opposition party is grappling with serious internal discord as a senior provincial leader has openly challenged the decision to proceed with a planned march on Islamabad, warning that the move could provide justification

[8
3,6,9,4
post-373","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan","tag-ai-consensus","tag-express-tribune","tag-geo-news","tag-journalist-ai
https://goodforfree.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/pti-faces-internal-revolt-as-senior-leader-warns-long-march-could-trigger-emergency-rule.png
["GET
