Security forces responded immediately, repelling the attack and inflicting heavy casualties on opposing Taliban positions, according to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The ministry released visual evidence of the engagement and firmly rejected Afghan claims that a Pakistani border post near Spin Boldak had been destroyed without Taliban casualties, calling the Afghan account fabricated lies from a regime with no credibility.

The border fighting followed Pakistan’s interception of eight armed drones that violated Pakistani airspace from Afghanistan earlier in the week. Four drones were shot down near the Torkham border crossing, while four others were destroyed over mountainous terrain around Kohat. All eight were detected and neutralized by Pakistan’s air defense systems before reaching their intended targets.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that Pakistan conducted the retaliatory airstrikes in response to the drone incursions, describing them as deliberate, precise and strictly limited to military objectives directly linked to the attempted attacks. The strikes targeted facilities used for launching and storing hostile drones.

Tarar issued a stern warning that Pakistan would neither accept nor tolerate attacks from Afghan territory, whether by terrorist groups or the Taliban regime itself. Any violation of sovereignty would be met with immediate and decisive response, he emphasized, adding that Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace should not be mistaken for weakness.

The escalation comes amid mounting evidence that Afghanistan continues serving as a sanctuary for terrorist networks targeting Pakistan. Security officials revealed that 260 Afghan nationals killed while conducting terrorist attacks inside Pakistan have been identified with documented names, addresses and family details.

Officials estimate that up to 70 percent of militants infiltrating Pakistan are of Afghan origin, with many receiving training, weapons and operational support from facilities inside Afghanistan. Recovered equipment includes advanced American-made weapons left behind after the NATO withdrawal, including assault rifles, sniper rifles and night-vision devices.

The violence has exacted a devastating toll. In 2026 alone, terrorism originating from Afghan soil has killed 1,327 Pakistanis and injured another 2,484, according to Pakistani authorities. The United Nations estimates the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan maintains a force of 6,000 to 6,500 fighters operating from Afghan territory, with training camps established in Kunar, Nangarhar, Khost and Paktika provinces.

Meanwhile, Pakistani forces continue intensive counter-terrorism operations inside the country. The military reported killing 33 terrorists in Balochistan since September 21, including 11 eliminated in an intelligence-based operation in Nushki district and 22 others in ongoing clearance operations targeting Indian-sponsored militant networks.

Despite a ceasefire agreement reached in October 2025 and the launch of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in February 2026, Pakistan and Afghanistan remain locked in bitter dispute over militant sanctuaries. Islamabad has repeatedly demanded that Kabul prevent its territory from being used for attacks, while the Taliban regime denies responsibility and deflects blame.

The current crisis represents the most serious military confrontation between Pakistani forces and the Taliban regime since the group returned to power in 2021, raising fears of further escalation along the 2,600-kilometer border that remains one of the world’s most dangerous frontiers.

Pakistani security forces killed at least 13 Afghan Taliban fighters and launched precision airstrikes on 10 locations inside Afghanistan following a major border confrontation and attempted drone attacks, marking a dramatic escalation in cross-border hostilities

[8
3,6,9,4
post-301","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-pakistan","tag-ai-consensus","tag-express-tribune","tag-geo-news","tag-journalist-ai
https://goodforfree.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/pakistan-strikes-back-13-taliban-killed-after-border-attack-retaliatory-airstrikes-hit-10-afghan-sites.png
["GET
